Youth Fellowship for Grades 6-12
A Message to Parents of Youth,
Youth between the ages of 12-24 are bombarded with voices and claims from every direction. These years are also the time when youth make some of the most important decisions of their lives. Perhaps the most important is making and solidifying a faith commitment.
Over 65 percent of all adults professing a vital Christian faith made their commitment before the age of 18 while less than 20 percent made this decision after the age of 25. The most significant influence in a child’s life is his family’s primary faith and values. That is why, as a parent, your example of Christian Decision making and Christ Centered living is so very important in the development of spirituality in the life of your child.
Deuteronomy 6:4-7 (NIV) Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Youth Ministry at Bethel Hill is designed to support you as parents in the faith development and spiritual commitment of your youth. We work diligently to provide the youth with opportunities for fellowship, worship, relationship building, community service, missions and a safe place to build trust and faith in God.
As Youth Ministry leaders, we need the support and help of parents. Parents are ALWAYS welcome to attend any youth gathering at any time. We encourage you to assist with Sunday Evening Fellowship activities, help lead small group discussions, share your spiritual gifts and your talents, as well as help provide meals and transportation as needed.
We also need your support in encouraging your youth to participate weekly in the Youth Fellowship Activities. Learning to make and carry out commitments is an important part of our spiritual development. As parents, you set this example for your child. We ask that YOU make a commitment as well – to bring your youth regularly to Sunday School at 10:30 am on the first and third Sundays of each month. There are additional activities, service projects, fund raisers, retreats and fun activities scheduled throughout the year – on and off campus.
We are available to answer any questions you may have about Bethel Hill’s Youth Ministry. We are able to provide many resources for your personal faith development as well as Parenting issues. We look forward to discussions with you regarding your youth, the Youth Ministry activities, and your anticipated support and participation.
But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. . . . Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.” James 1:6, 8 (NLT)
